Panvel: The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has presented a Rs 3,873.86 crore budget for the financial year 2025-26, focusing on infrastructure, public health, and administrative efficiency. The budget, which does not include any tax hikes, was presented by Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Mangesh Gawde and submitted to Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale during an administrative standing committee meeting.
A significant portion of the budget has been allocated to infrastructure projects, including Rs158 crore for a new administrative building and Rs38 crore for the Mayor’s residence and new ward offices. Road development, including concrete and asphalt surfacing, will receive Rs 437 crore, while Rs 57 crore has been earmarked for sports facilities. Additionally, Rs17.50 crore has been set aside for flood prevention measures near the Gadhi River, and Rs 35 crore has been allocated for desilting the Holding Pond in Kalamboli.
PMC has also prioritized sanitation and waste management, with Rs 221 crore allocated for waste collection and disposal. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, four wards will receive mega sweeping machines, and Rs 11.38 crore has been earmarked for dust control measures. A Waste-to-Energy project in collaboration with CIDCO will receive Rs10 crore for implementation.
Healthcare services will receive Rs126 crore, with Rs 17.50 crore allocated for a 450-bed hospital and Rs10 crore for a 50-bed hospital in Kalamboli. The fire department will also be strengthened with Rs 39 crore, including procurement of advanced firefighting vehicles and a new fire station in Kamothe.
Education has been given a boost with Rs34 crore for new school buildings and Rs83 crore for infrastructure upgrades and teacher salaries. To enhance security, Rs107 crore has been allocated for CCTV surveillance at key locations.
Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale emphasized that the budget aims to boost revenue, improve health services, enhance public cleanliness, and promote environmental sustainability.
