No More Delays: ‘Sugam Application’ to Fix Escalators and Lifts Faster at Mumbai Stations

Date:

Mumbai: Escalators and lifts at Central Railway stations in Mumbai, which often remain out of service, will now be repaired more quickly. To address this recurring problem, the Central Railway has launched a new digital initiative through the ‘Sugam Application‘, inaugurated by General Manager Dharmveer Meena.

According to railway officials, the app has been designed for maintenance and failure analysis of escalators and lifts. The system ensures timely compliance by sending instant alerts. For instance, if an escalator or lift breaks down at any platform, an alert will immediately be sent to the control room. Upon receiving the alert, the control room will direct on-ground staff to reach the site and carry out repairs.

In cases of minor issues, the system will allow digital troubleshooting. Railway authorities believe this will provide much-needed relief to senior citizens, patients, women, and persons with disabilities who often face difficulties due to non-functional escalators and lifts.
