On Wednesday morning, various parts of Mumbai experienced the season’s inaugural pre-monsoon showers, providing much-needed relief from the intense heat and humidity.
Residents awoke to overcast skies, and light rains began to fall in certain areas of the city around 7 AM. Between 7 AM and 8 AM, several neighborhoods, including Dadar, Kandivali, Magathane, Oshiwara, Wadala, and Ghatkopar, recorded rainfall amounts ranging from 4 mm to 26 mm, according to a civic official. Central and south Mumbai also saw some light showers.
Despite the rain, road traffic and train services in the city remained unaffected, the official added.
Mumbai typically sees the arrival of the monsoon season in the second week of June. However, the city experienced unseasonal rain with strong winds last month, leading to a tragic incident in the Ghatkopar area where a hoarding collapsed, resulting in several fatalities.
