MMR’s electricity consumers, especially those using Adani Electricity, have received a big relief. According to the company spokesperson, electricity bills under Adani Electricity will decrease by about 10% this year and 11.7% next year. Additionally, the fixed charges on electricity bills will not increase, benefiting nearly 3.4 million consumers.
The company has also reduced the Green Tariff Premium to Rs 0.25 per unit, making it more affordable for customers who opt for green energy. Earlier, consumers had to pay a higher premium for it. Now, they will only need to pay Rs 0.25 extra per unit.
Moreover, Mumbai residents using electric vehicles will continue to get the city’s lowest electricity rates from Adani Electricity, set at just Rs 5.48 per unit. Consumers who use electricity at different times of the day will receive additional discounts. There are also incentives for those who reduce their electricity consumption.
In a similar move, Tata Power has also announced tariff reductions for 800,000 electricity consumers, effective from the 2025-26 financial year.
MSEDCL Residents too will enjoy a drop of 4-13% in rates from April 1, while BEST in the island city will experience a 3% hike for high-end users and no change for low-end residential consumers, as per the latest order of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC).
