Malabar Gold Group Abides by MP Piyush Goyal’s Appeal to Offer Free Meals to Patients at Shatabdi Hospital

Date:

Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the world’s sixth-largest jewellery retailer, has announced its commitment to providing daily meals for 500 patients at the civic-run Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali, starting from the first week of October. This initiative follows a call to action from North Mumbai MP Piyush Goyal, who encouraged the company to enhance its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in his constituency.

During an event attended by students, diamond merchants, and industrialists, Goyal expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am pleased to announce that Malabar Trust has decided to provide 500 nutritious meals to patients at Shatabdi Hospital. I am deeply touched by this generous gesture.” He urged Malabar Group’s Chairman, MP Ahmmed, to expand the company’s philanthropic efforts, emphasizing the importance of supporting underprivileged students from childhood through higher education.

The event, held at the Diamond Bourse, also featured Goyal discussing the recent reduction in import duty on gold from 15% to 6%. He noted, “The overall 9% drop in import duty has likely enabled many women in our country to afford larger mangalsutras.”

Additionally, Malabar Charitable Trust, the CSR arm of Malabar Group, announced an ambitious plan to award academic scholarships to 21,000 deserving female students across India for the 2024-25 academic year. The event, titled Empowering Education & Empowering Womanhood, was a grand affair, attended by several prominent dignitaries, with Goyal serving as the Chief Guest.
