In the grand spectacle of Mahakumbh 2025, where faith and devotion reign supreme, the sounds of joyous newborn cries have also begun to resonate.
Over the past few months, millions of devotees have flocked to the 4,000-hectare Kumbh area, but for 11 women and their families, this spiritual journey became even more special—they welcomed their newborns right in the Kumbh city.
These babies were born at the Central Hospital, set up within the Kumbh region. The hospital is equipped with a 105-member medical team, including four gynecologists, ensuring proper maternity care. The women either reached the hospital with the help of their family members or were transported by ambulances deployed at the fairground. These ambulances are well-equipped to provide maternity support and ensure safe deliveries.
While the Maha Kumbh Mela officially began on January 13, visitors have been gathering in the area since December as a massive tent city came up by the Sangam in Prayagraj, where Central Hospital was already up and running.
According to reports, the first delivery at the hospital took place on December 29, when a 20-year-old woman from Kaushambi gave birth to a baby boy, who was named ‘Kumbh’. The couple had come to the Kumbh Mela looking for work and had been living in the Kumbh area.
The most recent delivery occurred on February 6, when a 30-year-old woman from Barabanki welcomed a baby boy in the Kumbh area.
These births have added a special significance to the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025, making it a momentous occasion not just for spiritual seekers but also for families embracing new life amidst the grand congregation.
