Mumbai — In a successful operation led by the Powai Police, two individuals were arrested for possession of illegal firearms on Friday. Acting on a tip-off received by PI Sawant, officers targeted the suspects who were allegedly carrying weapons for sale in the Powai area.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sachin Fulchand Kishwah (18) and Amar Kumar Badshah Nai (23), both residents of Murwara, Katni, Madhya Pradesh. A dedicated team from Unit 10, comprising API Chaudhari, API Todkar, API Narvekar, HC Jagtap, PC Thombre, and PC Dafale, conducted the operation.
Upon their arrest, police recovered two country-made pistols and four live rounds, valued at approximately Rs 1 lakh. The team also seized two mobile phones worth around Rs 6,000. A case has been registered at Powai Police Station under sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, as well as sections 37(1)(A) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
The investigation has been transferred to a special unit for further proceedings, with ongoing efforts to uncover additional leads related to the case. Authorities stress the importance of community vigilance in preventing illegal arms trade and encourage the public to report any suspicious activities.
