The weather across Mumbai and its surrounding areas has turned increasingly uncomfortable, leaving residents struggling with heat, humidity, and dusty conditions. On Wednesday night, the temperature crossed 27°C, and by morning, clouds and high humidity levels had people drenched in sweat.
In the evening, gusty winds in parts of South Mumbai, Dombivli, and Thane stirred up dust and dirt, worsening the air quality. According to weather experts, daytime temperatures are expected to rise further, with only a minimal drop at night. However, the high humidity is likely to persist.

The weather pattern has remained unstable over the last three days, with light rain in some places and cloudy skies in others. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Thursday night saw a minimum temperature of 27.5°C, while the maximum temperature on Friday reached 33.7°C. Mumbaikars are struggling to cope, especially during the nights when there is no respite from the heat and humidity. On Friday, humidity levels crossed 70%, causing extreme discomfort despite overcast skies.
2-3°C increase in daytime temperatures
Weather expert Rajesh Kapadia noted that such conditions are not uncommon for April. Whether day or night, humidity levels generally remain above 70%. He said this trend is expected to continue. From Saturday onward, clearer skies are expected, leading to a 2-3°C increase in daytime temperatures, pushing the mercury to around 35-36°C. Nighttime temperatures will hover around 24-25°C, but the humidity will offer little relief.
A senior official from the weather department, speaking on the condition of anonymity, warned that the current weather is not ideal for health. With only a 6°C difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures, the human body struggles to adjust, leading to fatigue and discomfort. The official advised residents to take care of their health, stay hydrated, and consume enough fluids to avoid dehydration.
