The Anti-Encroachment Department of the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has intensified its crackdown on illegal constructions, demolishing an unauthorized six-story RCC building in Ghansoli on Monday. The structure, located in Sector 30, had been under construction despite a prior cease-and-desist order.
The building, measuring 125.4 sq. meters, was being developed on Survey Number 02. CIDCO had earlier issued a formal notice under Section 54(1) of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning (MRTP) Act, instructing the builders to stop their work. However, the developers ignored this directive and continued construction.
On February 17, CIDCO’s Anti-Encroachment Department, led by Chief Controller Dr. Jagannath Veerkar and Chief Vigilance Officer Suresh Mengde, carried out the demolition using three Poclain machines. The operation was executed with strict security measures to ensure its success.
This demolition is part of CIDCO’s ongoing efforts to remove illegal structures across the city. The organization has reiterated that this drive will continue in the coming weeks.
