A shocking discovery was made near Gorai Beach in Mumbai on Sunday where a chopped body pieces of a man was found inside a plastic bag. Police said the body was chopped into seven parts and packed in four plastic boxes commonly used for storing paint. The boxes were located in bushes along a road between Babarpada and Pixy Hotel at Shephali in Gorai.
The police believe the victim was between 25 and 40 years old. His body was dressed in jeans and black shoes but had no shirt. He also had a tattoo with the letters “RA” on his right hand which may help in identifying him. The body was badly decomposed and a foul smell from the area led passersby to alert the police.
Police have registered a murder case and are actively investigating. They have sent the body for a post-mortem to determine the exact time of death. “A forensic analysis can establish the exact period when the murder occurred,” said a police officer.
Authorities are checking surveillance footage from the area and making inquiries in the nearby village to determine if the man was a local resident. “Only after establishing the identity of the victim and locating his family can we arrive at a conclusion about the motive of this brutal killing,” stated a senior police officer.
