Harmony Foundation in a joint initiative with partner NGO Exodus India operation led by Shyam Kamble with the help of the Mumbai Crime Branch, successfully rescued the 15-year-old child being thrown into a prostitution racket.
The victim belonged to a poor family background from Thane, originally from UP and after her mother passed away she befriended a Nepali girl who introduced her to one Saniya and a lady agent named Akruti Kapoor a sex racket runner in Bandra.
This 15-year-old girl originally from a village in Uttar Pradesh had been lured with false promises and sold into this horrific profession.
Dr. Abraham Mathai, Founder-Chairman of the Harmony Foundation and former Vice-Chairman of the State Minorities Commission, has expressed his concerns saying, “It is heartbreaking to see how young girls like her are coaxed into such a vicious cycle, robbed of their innocence, and forced into an unimaginable fate. The scars a girl child would bear due to it are beyond comprehension. The girl was saved because of the active participation of the Joint CP Crime Shri Lakshmi Gautam and DCP Crime Shri Vishal Thakur, as without their sincere support, this rescue would have not been possible.”
Dr. Mathai also stressed that human trafficking is one of the most horrifying crimes, as it can deeply impact the future of the girl child. He asserted, “The rescue of this 15-year-old girl is a relief, but countless others remain trapped in similar situations and it is a wake-up call for civil society. While one life has been saved, we should strive to save even more lives.”
He further added that the rescue of this 15-year-old girl is a relief, but countless others remain trapped in similar situations and it is a wake-up call for civil society. While one life has been saved, we should strive to save even more lives. There is an urgent need for stricter laws, better enforcement, and widespread awareness to prevent such tragedies. Society must take collective responsibility and action to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure that traffickers are held accountable. He also stressed that human trafficking is one of the most horrifying crimes, as it can deeply impact the future of the girl child.
Dr. Abraham Mathai concluded saying that these innocent children who are forced, are helpless, and have no choice but to keep hope in their hearts that, somewhere, somehow, they can be saved sometime in the future.
