The 126th Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting of Central Railway was held on June 5, 2025, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai. The meeting was chaired by Shri Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, Central Railway, and attended by 44 ZRUCC members, including three Hon’ble Members of Parliament — Shri Dnyaneshwar Raosaheb Patil, Smt. Varsha Eknath Gaikwad, and Shri Anup Sanjay Dhotre.

In his address, Shri Meena underscored the vital role of ZRUCC suggestions in shaping passenger-centric railway services. He praised the dedication of railway staff working tirelessly to ensure smooth train operations and enhance commuter comfort.
Focusing on passenger amenities, Shri Meena highlighted a range of recent upgrades including modernized waiting rooms, improved toilet facilities, additional seating, drinking water booths, escalators, lifts, mobile charging stations, and digital display boards. Central Railway currently operates 383 Mail/Express and 142 Passenger/MEMU/DEMU trains daily, serving nearly 5.5 lakh passengers. Premium trains such as 10 Vande Bharat services and the recently launched Amrit Bharat Express from LTT to Saharsa have elevated the travel experience.
Under the Amrit Station Scheme, 98 stations across Central Railway are undergoing redevelopment, with 12 stations inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on May 22, 2025. In the suburban network, Central Railway operates 1,810 services in Mumbai and 42 in Pune, carrying over 38 lakh commuters daily. The number of AC local train services in Mumbai has now increased to 80, offering greater convenience to city commuters.

On the safety and security front, Shri Meena reported the installation of over 5,200 CCTV cameras in suburban coaches and 2,693 cameras in premium trains. Emergency Talk Back Systems have been added to ladies coaches in 161 EMU rakes. He also commended the RPF for saving 73 lives and reuniting 1,463 missing children with their families over the past year. Technological interventions such as QR code-based ticketing and Digital Divyangjan ID cards have simplified travel for all passengers, especially those with disabilities.
Shri Meena also showcased Central Railway’s innovations and infrastructure milestones. Notably, the waterproof point machine — a solution for flood-prone tracks — earned the top honor across all zonal railways. The Real-Time Water Level Notifier in coaches secured the second prize for enhancing passenger experience. In FY 2024-25, the railway achieved 316 km of doubling/multi-tracking and 72.5 route km of electrification. Additionally, 17 Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), 31 Road Over Bridges (ROBs), and 92 Road Under Bridges (RUBs) were commissioned, and 31 level crossings were eliminated to boost safety.
As part of the ‘One Station One Product’ initiative, 161 stalls have generated sales of over ₹8.74 crore, promoting local artisans and products. Central Railway was also recently conferred six departmental shields at the prestigious Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar 2024 in New Delhi, including the coveted Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Overall Efficiency Shield.

During the interactive session, Members of Parliament and ZRUCC members raised several issues related to their constituencies, demanded new train services and stoppages, and suggested further improvements in passenger amenities. Railway officials responded to each concern, and the General Manager assured that all suggestions would be thoroughly examined and implemented where feasible.
