Uran: A large-scale mock drill named “Operation Abhyas” will be held in Uran on May 7, 2025, at 4:00 PM to test the district’s emergency preparedness in line with the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines. The district administration has appealed to citizens not to panic, ignore rumors, and follow official instructions.
During the drill, civil defense sirens will sound across seven key locations in Uran, signaling a simulated emergency. Sirens have been installed at the Tehsil Office, ONGC Colony, Group Gram Panchayat (Chanaje), GTPS Company (Bokadvira), Barmer Lorry (Bhendkhal), All Cargo Company (Koproli), and Bulk Gate Company (Mora). The mock drill will simulate a fire at the NI School and Panchayat Samiti, Uran, with rescue teams, medical squads, and emergency services carrying out operations.
A five-minute blackout is also planned in some areas of Uran during the exercise.
“This is purely a preparedness exercise. There is no actual emergency. Citizens are requested to remain calm, avoid spreading or believing in rumors, and strictly follow all safety instructions,” urged District Collector Kishan Jawale.
The administration also issued wartime safety guidelines, advising residents to seek shelter immediately upon hearing sirens, switch off electricity and gas supplies, and wait for an “all clear” signal before leaving shelters. Citizens are encouraged to keep water, dry food, and medicines ready, and stay updated via radio or mobile. The administration warned of strict action against those spreading false information.
The mock drill aims to enhance readiness and ensure smooth coordination between agencies and the public in the event of a real emergency.
