The long-awaited Palava-Katai flyover on the Kalyan-Shil Road will finally be opened for traffic on May 31. The necessary procedures for launching the flyover have begun, as confirmed by Kalyan Rural MLA Rajesh More.
Traffic congestion is a regular issue at Palava Chowk and Katai Naka on Shilphata Road, causing major inconvenience to commuters. The opening of the flyover above the Palava-Katai railway line is expected to significantly ease this problem.

MLA Rajesh More visited the site on Thursday to inspect the ongoing construction work. During his visit, he instructed the concerned authorities to expedite the completion of the remaining tasks. Speaking to the media, More assured that the flyover would be operational for vehicles by May 31.
Efforts are also underway to widen the Kalyan-Shil Road and construct more flyovers where necessary, as part of a broader initiative led by Member of Parliament Dr. Shrikant Shinde and MLA Rajesh More. MP Shinde is actively working to resolve all obstacles and ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects in the region.
One of the major bottlenecks on Shilphata Road occurs at the corner near Xperia Mall at Palava Chowk. While the rest of the road poses no major issues, this junction often experiences severe traffic jams. To address this, public representatives had urged MSRDC to expedite the flyover project. Authorities have now assured that the work will be completed, and the flyover opened by May 31.
Concrete Roadwork Completed on Shilphata Road
The new flyover, which crosses the Diva-Panvel railway line, is expected to greatly improve travel convenience for commuters. Although construction has been ongoing for a long time, the concretization of Shilphata Road has already been completed. However, the road widening and concretization work between Manpada-Katai and Khidkali has been delayed due to pending compensation issues for affected farmers. Vehicles traveling from Kalyan-Dombivli can move swiftly until Palava Chowk, where congestion becomes a major issue. The new flyover is expected to resolve this traffic bottleneck once operational.
