Panvel: Swastika Ghosh, a promising table tennis player from Panvel, has been selected for the prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Award for the year 2023-24. This recognition marks a major achievement in the field of sports, as Ghosh’s remarkable performance in table tennis has earned her this esteemed honor.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 18, at 11 AM at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune, where the Governor of Maharashtra, C.P. Radhakrishnan, will be present to felicitate the winners. Swastika’s selection for the award is a matter of immense pride for Panvel.
In addition to the Governor, the event will witness the presence of several prominent dignitaries, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, and Sports Minister Dattatray Bharne. The announcement of Swastika’s achievement has been met with widespread congratulations and admiration.
Swastika, an international table tennis player, is currently pursuing her BMS degree at CKT College, part of the Janardan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha. She completed her schooling from Ramsheth Thakur Public School in Kharghar, where she studied from the 3rd to the 12th grade. Her dedication to table tennis, along with her consistent stellar performances in national and international tournaments, has elevated her status as one of India’s top players in the sport.
Representing Maharashtra for the last ten years, Swastika trains rigorously for six hours a day at Ramsheth Thakur College in Kharghar. Her father, Sandeep Ghosh, who serves as her coach and advisor, has been instrumental in her success.
Speaking to the media about the award, Sandeep Ghosh expressed gratitude to former MP Ramsheth Thakur, who has provided continuous support to Swastika through financial aid and training facilities at the Kharghar school. He also credited the success to the Janardan Bhagat Education Society, which has played a pivotal role in Swastika’s journey.
