NMMC Demolishes Multiple Unauthorized G+4 Structures in Nerul

Date:

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has demolished several under-construction ground-plus-four-story (G+4) buildings in Nerul after their owners failed to comply with notices from the Encroachment Department. The demolition drive was carried out under the directives of Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, with guidance from Additional Commissioner (2) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Mr. Bhagwat Doiphode.

During inspections, the NMMC identified unauthorized G+4 RCC structures at multiple locations, including properties owned by Jitendra Vasant Kapse, Manish B. Gupta, Satish B. Gupta, and Mahesh Vasant Vaigwar. The Nerul division office had previously issued notices under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, on February 17 and March 3, 2025. However, despite the deadline, the illegal constructions were not voluntarily removed.

In response, the NMMC initiated a demolition drive in the Nerul division to clear these unauthorized structures. The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner and Division Officer Sagar More, with support from Junior Engineer Sanjay Sontakke and encroachment department staff. The NMMC has reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against illegal construction and warned that similar enforcement drives will continue.
