Navi Mumbai: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) carried out a partial demolition drive after the owner failed to remove illegal construction despite prior notice. The unauthorized structure, an R.C.C. G+2 building covering approximately 135 square meters, was found in Sector 30, Ghansoli, and lacked the necessary approvals from CIDCO or any competent authority.
CIDCO had earlier issued a notice highlighting that the developer’s one-year development permit had expired and that the construction did not comply with revised permissions. Invoking Section 54(1) of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, CIDCO ordered an immediate halt to construction and directed the restoration of the land to its original state.
The notice also warned that failure to comply would lead to legal proceedings under Section 54(2) of the Act, resulting in penalties, criminal charges, and the demolition of the structure at the owner’s expense. If violations persist, the case will be escalated to the Criminal Court under Sections 53(6) and 53(7), with costs recovered as land revenue arrears.
CIDCO officials have urged citizens to refrain from unauthorized construction activities and obtain all necessary approvals before undertaking any development projects.
