Navi Mumbai– The much-awaited Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Cup 40+ Cricket Tournament was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at Belapur’s Sector-15A ground. The event, organized by the Sports and Cultural Department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in collaboration with the 40+ Cricket Association, aims to promote fitness and sportsmanship among senior players.
The tournament, featuring 57 teams, was inaugurated by Maharashtra’s Forest Minister, Ganesh Naik, in the presence of Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, Deputy Commissioner Abhilasha Patil, Executive Engineer Madan Waghchaude, Deputy Engineer Pandharinath Chavde, Sports Officer Revappa Gurav, and 40+ Cricket Association President Shri Pradip Patil, among other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Naik applauded the association’s efforts in fostering community engagement through sports. He emphasized the importance of staying fit beyond the age of 40, encouraging participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise, yoga, and routine health check-ups.
Beyond cricket, the tournament also aims to strengthen unity and community spirit, transcending social barriers for the overall development of Navi Mumbai.
The tournament will run from February 28 to March 2, 2025, offering cricket enthusiasts a competitive yet enjoyable platform. Best wishes were extended to all participating teams as they gear up for thrilling matches in the days ahead.
