BMC Denies Allegations of Irregularities in Mithi River Dredging Tender

Date:

Mumbai– The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has dismissed media reports alleging irregularities in the tender process for Mithi River desilting, asserting that the claims are unfounded.

The civic body clarified that the tender requirements were set to ensure effective dredging. Since the Mithi River is significantly wide in several areas, the tender specifies the use of an excavator with a 35-meter-long boom and a 1.5 cubic meter bucket to efficiently remove silt.

BMC further stated that the tender process is still ongoing and has not been finalized. Meanwhile, some bidders have challenged the conditions in the Bombay High Court, making the matter sub judice. The next hearing is scheduled for March 4, 2025.

The civic body assured that all further actions would be taken in accordance with the High Court’s directives.
