The Harmony Foundation, alongside Narges Mohammadi’s family, strongly condemns the Iranian authorities’ decision to grant only a 21-day medical leave to the 2023 Nobel Laureate and *Mother Teresa Memorial Award Recipient, following her surgery for suspected cancer. This limited leave is seen as grossly insufficient given her medical needs.
After years of unjust imprisonment for her courageous stand on women’s rights, granting her only temporary relief for 21 days is a glaring violation of her dignity.” Dr. Mathai condemned the Iranian regime for its continued mistreatment of Narges Mohammadi, pointing to the indignities she has suffered, and being denied proper medical care earlier.
Dr. Abraham Mathai, Founder-Chairman of the Harmony Foundation, criticized the Iranian regime for denying Mohammadi proper medical care during her imprisonment and for ignoring her family’s request for a three-month medical leave. He called for her immediate and unconditional release, as well as unrestricted access to the treatment she needs.
Dr. Mathai emphasized Mohammadi’s advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality, describing her as a global symbol of courage. He urged the international community to pressure Iran to ensure her freedom and medical care, highlighting the regime’s disregard for human dignity.
Dr. Mathai added that “every human being has the right to quality medical care, free from constraints and intimidation. It is imperative that she be allowed to seek treatment abroad and regain the freedom that is her birthright.”
The Harmony Foundation remains committed to advocating for Mohammadi’s rights and the dignity of all those unjustly silenced.
I wonder why other Human Rights activist are not protesting and garnering international support.
