Seven Essential Trays Mandated in Govt, Municipal Hospital Delivery Rooms

Date:

In an effort to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, the Health Department has mandated that all delivery rooms in government and municipal hospitals across the state must now include seven essential trays. The Family Welfare Department has issued detailed guidelines outlining the contents and purpose of each tray.

The decision aims to address complications such as APH (Antepartum Hemorrhage), PPH (Postpartum Hemorrhage), retained placenta, preterm delivery, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, preoperative sepsis, neonatal respiratory distress, and neonatal sepsis. These conditions are among the leading causes of maternal and child deaths. By ensuring proper preparedness and timely referral services, the department hopes to significantly reduce these risks.

Guidelines for delivery rooms have been periodically updated, but this latest directive makes it mandatory for all institutional delivery centers to maintain the following seven trays:

  1. Delivery Tray
  2. Episiotomy Tray
  3. Baby Tray
  4. Medicine Tray
  5. Emergency Drug Tray
  6. MVA-EVA Tray (Manual Vacuum Aspiration / Electric Vacuum Aspiration)
  7. PPIUCD Tray (Postpartum Intrauterine Contraceptive Device)

District health officers and municipal authorities have been instructed to conduct inspections to ensure compliance. They must also take photographs of the trays and submit them to the official email ID: (jssk.cell24@gmail.com).
