The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Kalyan has rescued 44 children over the past five months as part of its ongoing initiative, Operation Nanhe Farishtey.
Launched in 2014, this mission aims to trace and reunite lost or missing children found at railway stations or on trains with their families. The campaign continues to play a crucial role in child protection across the railway network.
Rakesh Kumar Singh, Station House Officer of the Kalyan RPF, stated that the operation is being carried out consistently under the directives of Rishi Kumar Shukla, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner (Coordination). In 2024 alone, the Kalyan RPF rescued a total of 126 children. From January to May 2025, they have already rescued 44 minors from situations involving potential exploitation and child trafficking as reported by Dainik Bhaskar.
“Rescuing children in distress and reuniting them with their families is our primary goal, and we are committed to continuing this mission,” said Rakesh Kumar Singh.
The rescued children were found either on trains or within station premises. Efforts were made to reunite them with their families. In cases where the children’s families could not be identified, they were handed over to local NGOs or the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for care and protection.
